AP Healthcare is searching for a Regional Director of Coding to be located in the Boston, Massachusetts area. Employer is confidential.
The Regional Director of Coding will report to the Regional Director/Regional VP of Health Information Management Services. The Director is responsible to ensure accurate and timely coding of inpatient and outpatient records and will directly manage all employees involved in medical records coding/abstracting.
- The Director provides direction for all hospital coding activities, audits, education, and productivity standards required to reach unbilled targets. Identifies training needs for staff and provides monthly coding education to all coding staff.
- Develops and implements policies and procedures to assure clear and consistent operation of coding areas while encompassing departmental and organizational needs.
- Implements data collection for all JCAHO indicators in accordance with hospital needs as well as coordinates internal and external compliance audits, including insurance and RACs. Identifies opportunities for efficiencies, reviews, and implements as approved as well as performing all management functions, including interviewing, hiring, training, evaluating, and disciplining for all direct reports.
Candidate Qualifications:
-A level of knowledge equivalent to an Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management Administration is required. One of a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) certifications is required as well.
-Must have a minimum of 3-5 years of progressive Medical Record supervisions and 5 years of inpatient and Outpatient coding experience is required. Completion of ICD-10 coding is a must with a certification in ICD-10 coding being highly desirable.
-Experience in a large hospital is a must as this position will oversee 3 sites.
