GENERAL SUMMARY:
Manages and coordinates the daily operations of the HIM Departments in collaboration with the Director to ensure consistent productivity and efficient operation. Plans and organizes all operational functions including staffing and staff development, purchasing, budgeting, regulatory compliance and customer service management. Works closely with the management team of various departments on committees and projects. Demonstrates actions consistent with Ochsner’s Expectations as duties are performed on a daily basis.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A. Education, Experience & Training:
Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare of Business Administration or related field. Graduate of an accredited Health Information Management program with credentials of Registered Health Information Administrator or Technician, preferred. Three years of related healthcare experience including a minimum of two years of supervision or management experience is required. Seven years of related health care experience preferably in a health care setting including two years of supervisory or management experience may be substituted in lieu of educational requirements.
Other Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to manage within a budget and understand financial statements sufficient to analyze trends and make recommendations. Excellent judgment, decision-making, delegating and strong oral and written communication skills. Must be able to work independently, set priorities and maintain complete confidentiality. Possess excellent leadership and self-direction, good decision making, time management and organizational skills. Ability to work collaboratively with physicians, administration, nurses and support staff. Computer knowledge necessary in order to work efficiently in multiple software systems which support human resources management, budget and daily operations.
